Mansfield, TX – April 13, 2021 – Abdullah Abdussalam, M.D., is a gastroenterologist who is now part of Texas Health Medical Associates. Dr. Abdussalam has been running his practice as a member of the organization since late 2020.
GI Specialization
A gastroenterologist is a physician who specializes in treating illnesses within the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Also known as a stomach doctor, the gastroenterologist has an intricate understanding of the esophagus, small intestine, stomach, gallbladder, pancreas, colon, and rectum. One of the newest additions to Texas Health Medical Associates is gastroenterologist Abdullah Abdussalam, M.D.
Dr. Abdussalam brings years of experience to the Texas Health physician team. His initial interests in medicine were in liver function, and the field of gastroenterology opened up from that initial interest.
The heart and brain are crucial organs, but Dr. Abdussalam maintains that the liver is a fascinating field of study. “The liver is a very unique thing in every single patient, and that’s what makes it very interesting,” says Dr. Abdussalam. He aims to figure out ways to connect with his patients in order to “Focus on treatment and healing rather than focusing on being sick and treating disease.”
Care Focus
Dr. Abdussalam strives to develop a personal relationship with every patient, beginning with the initial appointment. He believes the best way to figure out what is bothering a patient is to get to know them personally beyond their current, acute symptoms. “If a person feels comfortable with the doctor, they will feel supported and approach medical care more confidently,” remarked Dr. Abdussalam.
Some patients have long-term liver and gastrointestinal issues stemming from obesity, alcoholism, autoimmune diseases and more. The liver is a vital organ, and these unique cases may require frequent visits to their GI doctor for colonoscopy and other diagnostic procedures. Dr. Abdussalam is glad to provide continuous care to ensure that long-term patients are thriving under his medical care and directives.
“I want my patients to know that I am there for them throughout every step of their health journey. My main priority is to help, listen, and be there for each patient by providing the best care I can for them,” says Dr. Abdussalam.
